Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is quickly becoming one of the biggest talking points in Indian cricket. At just 15 years old, the young batter has already impressed fans, experts and former cricketers with his fearless approach against some of the world’s best bowlers.

The teenage star grabbed attention after making his IPL debut last year. Since then, he has produced several explosive knocks, including two of the fastest centuries by an Indian in the IPL history. Despite his age, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has shown no fear while facing experienced international bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah, Pat Cummins and Kagiso Rabada.

His rapid rise has even reminded former India wicketkeeper-batter and selector Kiran More of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s early days.

Kiran More said that when he first watched Sachin Tendulkar bat against top-class bowlers after joining the Indian team, he immediately realised the youngster was special. According to him, he sees the same spark in Vaibhav Sooryavanshi. Kiran More also praised the teenager’s natural talent and said that India is fortunate to have such a player who could bring great success to the country in the future. He added that Vaibhav Sooryavanshi should continue playing in his natural attacking style.

The numbers of the youngster back up the excitement around him. Playing for Rajasthan Royals, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi is currently the team’s leading run-scorer and the third highest run-getter overall in the tournament. He has scored 579 runs in 13 innings at an average of 44.53 and an incredible strike rate of 236.32. His season includes one century and three fifties. He has also smashed 53 sixes this season, the highest number by an Indian in a single IPL season.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has adapted brilliantly to T20 cricket overall. In 31 matches, he has scored 1,280 runs at an average of 42.66 and a strike rate of 217.68. His T20 record already includes four centuries and four fifties, with a highest score of 144.

In List A cricket, he has made 353 runs in eight innings at an average of 44.12 and a strike rate of 164.95. His performances include one century and one fifty, while his highest score stands at 190.

The youngster also dominated at the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup 2026. He finished as the tournament’s second highest run-scorer with 439 runs in seven matches at an average of 62.71 and a strike rate of 169.49. His campaign included one century and three fifties, with a best score of 175.

During the tournament, he hit a record 30 sixes, comfortably surpassing South Africa’s Dewald Brevis, who had struck 18 sixes in the 2022 edition. Vaibhav Sooryavanshi now holds the record for the most sixes in the U-19 World Cup history.

He is also India’s leading run-scorer in U19 ODIs with 1,412 runs in 25 innings at an average of 56.48 and a strike rate above 165, including four centuries and seven fifties. However, his red-ball record is still developing, with 207 runs in eight matches and 12 innings at an average of 17.25, along with one half-century.
