While Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) celebrated lifting the IPL 2026 trophy in Ahmedabad, one young star managed to grab almost as much attention as the champions themselves. At just 15 years old, Rajasthan Royals sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi capped off a remarkable season by sweeping some of the tournament’s biggest individual honours.

By the end of the post-match awards ceremony, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi had collected five major awards — the Most Valuable Player award, the Orange Cap, the Super Striker of the Season trophy, the Emerging Player of the Season honour, and the award for hitting the most sixes. The achievement highlighted just how dominant he had been throughout the tournament.
The numbers behind his campaign were extraordinary. The left-handed batter scored 776 runs in 16 innings and maintained a breathtaking strike rate while attacking bowling line-ups with complete fearlessness. His tally of 72 sixes set a new IPL record, surpassing the previous benchmark and making him one of the most exciting players to watch during the season.

Even after Gujarat Titans reached the final, captain Shubman Gill and opening partner Sai Sudharsan were unable to overtake Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s run tally. As a result, the Orange Cap remained firmly in the teenager’s possession until the end of the tournament.
The achievement also placed him in the record books. At 15 years and 65 days old, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi became the youngest player ever to win the Orange Cap. He comfortably surpassed the previous record held by Sai Sudharsan who claimed the award last season at the age of 23 years and 231 days.
However, the evening’s most talked-about moment came away from the trophies. During a light-hearted conversation on stage with former India coach Ravi Shastri, the youngster was asked about the secret behind his incredible power-hitting. Ravi Shastri asked Vaibhav Sooryavanshi about the quantity of milk that he drinks daily and in response, the youngster jokingly said that he doesn’t drink milk now which immediately drew laughter from the crowd and quickly became a viral talking point.
