The late actor Sushant Singh Rajput has touched many lives in such a wonderful way that people still remember him even after 4 years of his demise. Sushant committed su*cide in June 2020 in his Bandra apartment but in his small career, he gave us quite few beautiful movies and one of them was ‘Kai Po Che’ with which he debuted in Bollywood.
Sushant Singh Rajput was a famous name in the television industry and because of his work in the TV serial Pavitra Rishta, he enjoyed a huge fan following even before entering Bollywood.
Recently, the casting director Mukesh Chhabra shared his first meeting with the actor. He said, “My first interaction with him was at a coffee shop. Before that, I had met him once briefly because, in this industry, many people meet you for work, but I didn’t register him at the time.”
Mukesh was looking for fresh faces for ‘Kai Po Che’ and after seeing Sushant in Pavitra Rishta, he knew that Sushant had the potential so he asked him to come for the audition. Chhabra said, “He was casually chilling with friends when I asked if he would come for a screen test for ‘Kai Po Che’. He was so down-to-earth and simply said, ‘Yes, sure sir, I will come.’ He then auditioned, and the rest, as they say, is history.”
Mukesh Chhabra revealed that many other actors who are big names now had also auditioned for the role. In his words, “Vijay Varma, Ayushmann Khurrana, Ali Fazal, Angad Bedi, and many other actors also auditioned. It was a fantastic and memorable experience casting for the film. I had a small office back then, and all of them came to audition. Today, they are all so successful.”
Sushant Singh Rajput and Mukesh Chhabra shared a special bond as the actor acted in the latter’s directorial debut ‘Dil Bechara’. While talking about his bond with Sushant, Mukesh also talked about the regret that they would not be able to do more movies together. He said, “Our dream is now incomplete. After your first film, you always feel you’ll work with your friend again, do multiple films together—what people call the ‘actor-director’ jodi. That dream is now incomplete. I can’t even think about it. After we made Dil Bechara, we thought, ‘Bhai, we’ll now do back-to-back films.’ Woh sapna adhura reh gaya.”
Mukesh Chhabra also added, “I haven’t spoken to his family in a long time, but I recently interacted with his sister on social media.”
