Virat Kohli Hits Back At Journo Who Asks About Replacing Rohit Sharma With Ishan Kishan

India’s T20 World Cup campaign started with a humiliating defeat against its arch-rival Pakistan in the match which was played yesterday at Dubai International Stadium. This was the first time that Pakistan defeated India in the World Cup; before this match, India and Pakistan clashed against each other in 5 T20 World Cup matches and all the five times, it was the Indian team that took the trophy home.

As far as the match was concerned, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bowl first. India had a very bad start as Pakistan bowler Shaheen Afridi sent the Indian opener Rohit Sharma to dug-out on the very first ball that he played by getting him LBW out and then in another over, he took KL Rahul’s wicket. The third wicket that Shaheen Afridi took was of skipper Virat Kohli who scored 57 runs in 49 balls and his innings included 5 fours and 1 six. Rishabh Pant also played a useful innings of 39 runs but no other Indian batter was able to show resistance to the Pakistan bowling and India managed only 151/7 in their 20 overs.

In reply, the Pakistani opener Mohammad Rizwan (79 runs, 55 balls, 6 fours & 3 sixes) and skipper Babar Azam (68 runs, 52 balls, 6 fours & 2 sixes) batted superbly and chased the target of 152 with 13 balls remaining in their innings. This is certainly a big win for Pakistan not just because they have defeated India in the World Cup for the first time but also because of the fact that they won the match by 10 wickets. Moreover, this is the first time that the Indian squad has lost a T20 match by 10 wickets.

Virat Kohli must be pretty disappointed with the manner in which his players performed and later on he was irked by the some irrelevant questions asked by journalists in the post-match conference. Virat Kohli was left shocked when a journalist asked him whether there was a need to give Ishan Kishan a chance to open instead of Rohit Sharma, in fact the journalist went ahead and spoke about dropping Hitman from the team.

The Indian skipper was not able to believe that even such a question could be asked to him. In response, he said, “It is a very brave question, what do you think sir? Because I played the XI I thought was the best. What do you think? What is your opinion? You will drop Rohit Sharma from T20 internationals? Do you know what he did in the last game?”

After taking a deep pause, Kohli laughed and said, “Unbelievable. Sir, if you want controversy, tell me before so that I can answer accordingly.”

Rohit Sharma may not have performed in the last match but he is certainly one of the best batsmen of all times and such a question was really irrelevant. What is your take in this regard? Let us know.
