Virat Kohli smashed his second century of the IPL 2023 in yesterday’s match and helped his team in posting a good total of 197/5 in the stipulated 20 overs. With this century, Virat Kohli became the third batter to score the second consecutive century and it was his seventh century of the IPL which is the highest by any batter in the tournament so far.

The toss was won by Hardik Pandya and he put RCB to bat first on its home ground. RCB got a good start as the openers Virat Kohli (101 runs not out, 61 balls, 13 fours & 1 six) and skipper Faf du Plessis (28 runs, 19 balls, 5 fours) produced a partnership of 67 runs for the first wicket but after that, no other batter was able to spend much time on the crease or play a big innings. While Michael Bracewell (26 runs, 16 balls, 5 fours) and Anuj Rawat (23 runs not out, 15 balls, 1 four & 1 six) made useful contributions, failure of the middle-order once again troubled the Bangalore franchise.

GT lost its first wicket of Wriddhiman Saha (12 runs, 14 balls, 2 fours) quite early but Shubman Gill played a superb knock of 104 not out (52 balls, 5 fours & 8 sixes)   and became the fourth batter to score the second consecutive century in the IPL. Shubman Gill got good support from Vijay Shankar (53 runs, 35 balls, 7 fours & 2 sixes) and they laid the foundation of their team’s win. GT chased the target successfully with 6 wickets in hand and 5 balls remaining in its innings.

Virat Kohli was sitting in the RCB dug out when Shubman Gill was scoring runs freely and his facial expressions were quite gloomy as he knew that his team was moving towards a defeat. After Shubman Gill played the winning shot on the first ball of the twentieth over, Virat Kohli was seen hiding his face in his cap, it is being said that he threw his cap or a water bottle in anger but nothing can be said with confirmation regarding this.

Here are the tweets which captured Virat Kohli’s reaction when his team lost the match:
