Twitter will never spare you even if you speak just one wrong word. These days, Twitter users are very active and keep discussing about every issue in every field. However, if they find any wrong tweet coming from cricketers, politicians or actors, they bash him/her left and right.
Recent one to get a good dose is Waqar Younis, the head coach of Pakistan Cricket team. He got thrashed because of his controversial tweet on women’s cricket team. He suggested that ICC must reduce the number of overs for women’s matches from 50 to 30 per side.
Did he mean that women players are incompetent and wouldn’t be able to play for 50 overs? Although he didn’t mention the reason clearly, his words were enough to invite backlash.
Here’s what he said;
@ICC What abt having 30 overs Cricket World Cup 4 Women???Like Tennis 3 sets rather then 5 #Suggestion I feel 50 overs r few 2many #WWCUP17

As soon as he tweeted this, Twitter users expressed displeasure and reminded him that women are no less than women.
Don’t want to give equal treatment?

They can survive!
no I think when women can bring the men's cricket team into the world after carrying them for 9 months,they can survive 20 more overs

They are creating records!
@waqyounis99 Sir I think they are creating records in 50 overs. So no point of discrimination….isn't it? #WWC17

After being slammed, Waqar Younis had no option but to give a clarification about it. He was forced to justify himself; here’s what he said now…
Lesser overs mean faster pace,, more audience,,competitive Cricket,,no discrimination or prejudice toward Women #AlwaysRespectWomen #WWCUP17 https://t.co/LHeSmK1k26
