In a post match presentation of Indian Premier League’s 56th match between Delhi Daredevils and Royal Challengers Bangalore, Sanjay Manjrekar, the presenter questioned Virat

“What do you do to not get carried away by your past performances, something that a lot of young and aspiring cricketers would want to know?”

Virat’s mantra to success!

On being asked this question, Virat answered:

“Well, it’s not easy, but you have to start afresh every day. I know it sounds very boring and traditional but that’s the way it is. I mean, to have the discipline to improve as a cricketer every day, you need to do boring things. You need to build your innings the same way and it doesn’t matter how well you are striking the ball. Similarly, your training and your diet have to be boring. As a sportsman playing at this level, you need to make sure that every day is made use of. You need to make everyday count and that is something I believe in. When I come to the field I am extra motivated because I am working hard off the field.”

Virat believes in discipline and hard work!

“Every day is a new day. I always feel that there is a scope for improvement and with every game, I take the plus and the minus as this helps me improvise. There is no substitute to hard work and discipline,”

Kohli’s aggression is something which everyone talks about. On being asked about it, Kohli says

“I went through the same stuff that every cricketer goes through when he comes in. You are insecure about your place, you make mistakes in your desperation. You want to do really well and you don’t really control yourself on and off the field.”

He also adds

“But as time progresses, you settle down and make consistent choices in your game as well as off the field which gradually helps you be on the top of the game,”

After the IPL is over, Virat would host a charity dinner along with Smile Foundation. The cricketer is of the opinion that it is his responsibility to do this thing for underprivileged kids.
