Rekha, the Indian actress may have stopped working in movies but she is still one of the most popular celebrities as she is one of those few actresses who have managed to stop the effect of age on their looks.
Rekha has worked in more than 180 movies and has received various awards for her performances, though she has worked with almost all the big actors of her times, her pairing with Amitabh Bachchan was loved the most by the audiences.
Amitabh and Rekha have worked together in many movies such as Namak Haraam (1973), Do Anjane (1976), Khoon Pasina (1977), Muqaddar Ka Sikandar (1978), Mr Natwarlal (1979) and Suhaag (1979) but their most loved movie was Silsila which released in 1981 and also starred Jaya Bachchan and Sanjeev Kumar in important roles.
There have been rumours which suggested that Amitabh and Rekha had an affair during their working days and Jaya Bachchan didn’t want Amitabh to work with Rekha because of which they never worked together after Silsila.
In an old interview, when Jaya Bachchan was asked whether she would mind if Amitabh and Rekha work together, Jaya Bachchan replied by asking why she would mind but at the same time, she also added that she strongly feels it will be a sensation more than the actual work. She further said that it is really a pity that the audiences are not able to see them together but they both also know that it will be sensationalize to such an extent that their work will get overshadowed.
Amitabh and Jaya got married in 1973 and they are certainly an inspiration as they are going strong even after 51 years despite belonging to an industry where people take divorce even after spending 15-20 years together as husband and wife.
