Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao starrer “Stree 2” has taken the box office by storm, demonstrating its massive appeal. The film’s success comes as no surprise given the first installment’s impact in 2018, which marked a pivotal moment in Rajkummar Rao’s career as ‘Vicky’. Interestingly, this role only came to him after the actor Vicky Kaushal passed on the opportunity.
Initially, Vicky Kaushal was approached for the horror-comedy before Rajkummar Rao. However, Vicky Kaushal turned down the offer and chose “Manmarziyaan” instead.
In an old interview when Vicky Kaushal was asked to name he regrets missing out, he said “Stree” because he was doing “Manmarziyaan” at that time. Despite receiving critical acclaim for his performance and unique blue-haired look in “Manmarziyaan”, the film underperformed at the box office, while “Stree” became a career-defining hit for Rajkummar Rao.
Now, with the release of “Stree 2”, Rajkummar Rao is once again earning widespread praise for his role. In a recent interview, Rajkummar Rao said that he himself is a big fan of “Stree” but the box-office numbers are beyond their expectations. He said that they all are really excited and grateful that a content driven movie has achieved so much success.
Apart from Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor, “Stree 2” features Aparshakti Khurana, Abhishek Banerjee and Pankaj Tripathi in prominent roles. The film also includes special appearances by Varun Dhawan and Akshay Kumar. “Stree 2” has made an impressive mark, grossing Rs 386 crore in India and surpassing Rs 500 crore globally within just 11 days. Directed by Amar Kaushik, this sequel to the 2018 hit continues to ignite the box office.
Undoubtedly Vicky Kaushal is a superb actor but now we just can’t imagine anyone else in the role which has been played by Rajkummar Rao. What do you say?
