The biopic on Bollywood’s bad boy Sanjay Dutt, Sanju is already out and ruling the box offices. Everyone is praising Ranbir’s performance in the movie. If you’ve watched the movie, you’d have already tried to match the reel-life and the real-life characters in Sanjay Dutt’s life. Apart from Ranbir, the film stars Sonam Kapoor whom the actor dated back in the 1980s and 1990s.
Sonam Kapoor, who is essaying the role of Ruby in the film, has a pivotal role in the movie. Her name in the film is Ruby. However, in reality, Sanjay Dutt didn’t have any girlfriend named Ruby.
Ruby, played by Sonam Kapoor, has been projected as one of Sanjay Dutt’s ex-girlfriends. As per the reports, Sonam’s character is an amalgamation of Sanjay’s ex-girlfriends and the character is based loosely on Tinu Munim or Madhuri Dixit, whom the actor had dated before.
The makers have refused to comment about the role of Sonam Kapoor. A lot of characters have been kept away from the biopic. Sanjay had a long list of affairs and girlfriends. All his affairs have been compressed to this fictitious character named Ruby.
Let us clear out the speculations. Sonam Kapoor as Ruby is not playing the role of Tina Munim, who is now Tina Ambani. They were childhood friends and started dating each other during Sanjay’s debut movie. As per the movie, Sanjay ditched Ruby whereas in real life Tina Munim left Sanjay due to his destructive nature. There’s no mention of Tina in the movie.
She is not even playing Sanjay Dutt’s first wife and the mother of his eldest daughter Richa Sharma.
In the movie, it has been revealed that Sanjay had about 350 girlfriends. However, the only girlfriend shown in the movie is Sonam Kapoor. Even in the interviews, the actress didn’t reveal details about her role and said that she is not playing any actress. There are high chances that she’s playing the role of Madhuri Dixit, but we still aren’t sure of the same.
At last, we can infer that the character is not based on any particular female of Sanjay’s life. Rather different references have been taken from his life and the role of his ex-girlfriends has been compressed to one girlfriend, named Ruby, shown in the movie.
