The Indian actress Taapsee Pannu is currently getting praised for her performance in “Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba” in which she shared the screen with Vikrant Massey and Sunny Kaushal. Taapsee is also a part of Akshay Kumar starrer “Khel Khel Mein” which released on 15th August 2024. Though the movie is getting applauded by the audiences, it hasn’t been able to combat the storm created by “Stree 2” at the box-office.
Taapsee is one of those actresses who are not scared of speaking their hearts out on various issues whether it is political, nepotism or any other topic. Recently in an interaction, she gave her opinion on the controversy related to Algerian boxer Imane Khelif who won gold medal at the Paris Olympics 2024 in women’s boxing 66 kg. Many have raised their voices against Imane Khelif citing that athletes with male genetic characteristics should not be allowed to participate in the women competitions as it violates the right of female athletes to compete on equal terms.
During an interview, when Taapsee Pannu was asked to shed her opinion on this matter, she referred to her movie “Rashmi Rocket” in which she played the character of an athlete who had high level of testosterones.
She said, “I played a role on that subject. I did a film called Rashmi Rocket which was about a female athlete being banned because she was detected with a high level of testosterone. So, I played this role. I mean, we presented our views, and that’s why you know I think the beauty of the kind of films I get is sometimes I get my films to talk about the muddas (issues) that I personally believe in without making a statement outside.”
She further said, “Our argument in the film was that there are so many athletes who are born with an edge over others. Like Usain Bolt and Michael Phelps, all these people are also born with a certain biological edge over others. Why are they not banned? And why only someone who has a higher level of testosterone is banned?”
