Finally Google’s next Android version has a name! Yes, you thought Android N is ‘Nutella’ but wait, it is something else. Well, it is ‘Nougat’!
This year, a contest was organized by Google at the Google I/O developer conference in the month of May. Yes, in this contest it asked name suggestions for its new Android version i.e. for Android N. You must be knowing that Google names its Android versions after popular desserts. Now, Android Nougat has derived its name from Europe’s popular dessert.
Know the features!
This new version of Android was showcased in the month of March through a developer preview. Moreover, in this version, a support for multiple apps is introduced as well. Yes, this is good news for you! Now with Android N, 2 apps can be opened simultaneously in the split-screen mode. Watching YouTube videos along with Tweeting is going to be so simple now.
Quick Settings Feature!
The OS would bring the ‘Quick Settings’ feature with which users can access 9 toggles on a single screen, can you believe it? Well, if you want to access more, swipe to your right!
Doze feature is improved!
Basically the Doze feature had come along with Android Marshmallow, but with the new OS, it gets many improvements. For instance, Doze would work well even if the screen is turned off and not just when the phone isn’t in use. With this, the battery life is surely going to improve.
Number blocking!
Another interesting feature is that with Android N, numbers can be blocked at the system level i.e. directly from apps like Messenger, Hangouts and Dialler. It means that if you block a number on a system level, other applications would automatically block it without you having to do it manually!
