The five times champion Chennai Super Kings got knocked out of the IPL 2024 after it lost its last league match against Royal Challengers Bangalore by 27 runs and its dream of winning the IPL record for the sixth time got crashed.
Fans of MS Dhoni are a little confused as to whether this season was the last season of Mahi as a player or they will get to see him play for one more season. Many feel that it was the last season for Dhoni in view of the fact that he has already handed over captaincy to Ruturaj Gaikwad and he was also facing problem due to injury (muscle tear). MSD batted lower down the order in the whole IPL because of this injury and it is also being said that doctors advised him to take rest but he chose to play.
However, the good news is that MS Dhoni didn’t feel any discomfort while running between the wickets and the manner in which he batted was just superb. He played all the 14 matches and scored 161 runs at the strike rate of 220.5 which is clearly an indication that the former CSK skipper can easily play one more IPL if he wants to.
An official from CSK stated that MS Dhoni hasn’t told anything to the CSK management about quitting, he has told the management that he will take a decision in a couple of months. The official further says that they will wait for the communication from Mahi as he has always taken decisions which are in the best interest of the team.
There are some reports which suggest that MS Dhoni will be going to London for the treatment of his muscle tear and he will take the final decision after recovery gets complete.
So keep your fingers crossed, let’s see what decision MS Dhoni takes in regard to his future in CSK and the IPL.
