Will Tyrion Betray Daenerys To Save Cersei And Her Yet To Be Born Child?

The season finale of Game of Thrones season 7 was completely amazing. There were those goosebumps moments when Jon looked into Dany’s eyes while they were hooking up and Bran from the background said, “He’s never been a bastard. He’s the heir to the iron throne.”

And of course the end of Lord Baelish. Nothing could be more satisfying than looking at cry baby little-finger begging for his life moments before Arya cuts his throat. But over all this, the most jaw dropping scene was when the Night king and his dragon break the wall in less than a minute!

Well, still you may have missed something. Were you so busy and engaged in Jon and Dany’s hook up that you didn’t observe the look on Tyrion’s face?

Now the question that arises is what’s going on in Tyrion’s mind?

To figure it out, we just simply go with the series of events that happened this season.

Season 7 Episode 4

Tyrion advised Daenerys to not to fly her Dragons and her Army to Highgarden to attack the Lannister fleet. He told her not to do so as it would put her life at stake. Maybe there could be a possibility that he wasn’t just caring for her but the damage her Army could cause to the fellow Lannisters. Well, later on, we all saw how sad and hurt Tyrion was on that top of the cliff when he saw burning Lannisters all around running away from the Dothraki army.

Somewhere deep within his heart, he felt that he had betrayed his men and his house. There was sadness and guilt in his eyes.

Then, when the war ended Dany burned alive Lord Tarly and his son Dickon without listening to Tyrion’s repetitive opposition to her idea.

This may have led Tyrion to think for a little while that how less Dany concerns him even after he betrayed his house to serve her.

Season 7 episode 5

Jaime’s meeting with Tyrion saddens him when Jaime starts cursing him for Killing their father and betraying the Lannisters. Jaime was the closest person to Tyrion; he was the one who helped Tyrion to escape the kings’ landing by taking a huge risk but Tyrion killing his Father really broke Jaime’s heart and Jaime’s hatred towards his little brother broke Tyrion from the inside.

Season Finale

When Tyrion and Cersei had their conversation in the closed room, Tyrion tells her that he doesn’t want to destroy the family and he feels sorry for what he did to their father despite the man he was. He also asks Cersei to give the order to kill him for the troubles he caused her and it wasn’t some cheap trick but it looked like Tyrion really felt guilty of the things that have happened. In addition to that, he confesses that no matter what he loved her children to which Cersei admits in her own way.

The end of the conversation happens with Tyrion looking at Cersei and Saying “You are Pregnant!”
We have no idea what happened next or how Tyrion convinced Cersei to tell Daenerys that Lannister would fight alongside her. But there is a high possibility that the fact of Cersei being pregnant may have melted Tyrion’s heart. Cersei already blames Tyrion for the death of her two children and no matter what, Tyrion doesn’t what the third blame on him. He may go to any lengths to protect the successor of House Lannister as he knows that Danaerys will sooner or later kill every Lannister which stands in her way.

Maybe when all these things were going in his mind, he saw Jon entering Daenerys’ room which made him realize that now there’s is a third powerful person between him and the queen which could affect his future with her. This may even let her take wrong decisions like the one she took when she burned the Tarlys. Maybe he’s worried about what she would do to Cersei and her yet to be born baby in the future.

So yes, there is a possibility that Tyrion would betray Danaerys for his true family and to save Cersei’s child.
