Indian hockey fans got a double treat when the Indian women’s hockey team won the 4th Women’s Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament, defeating China by 2-1 in Singapore on Saturday. Indian Men’s Hockey team has already won the title defeating Pakistan in the finals.
This was a nail-biting contest with the winning goal coming when just 20 seconds were remaining for the final buzzer; this goal was scored by Deepika.
The Indian team was off to a good start as the first goal was scored by India’s Deep Grace Ekka in the 13th minute of the match and it kept the lead till the 44th minute of the game when China’s Zhong Mengling scored a goal.
Both the teams were trying to score a winning goal in the fourth quarter but it was our country’s Deepika who made sure that India takes away the trophy.
