Someone has rightly said ‘actions speak louder than words’. People talk a lot, but hardly few people have the guts of putting words into actions. We might have seen several rallies for bringing down corruption but hardly some showed results. We are all aware of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’ too but not many put in efforts for accomplishing the mission. We wait only for others to take the lead.
But hats off to Bagicha Singh, an 81 year old man who would make you feel ashamed of yourself. Although he is not so famous, he is working silently to accomplish his mission. Yea! You heard it right! Mission at 81 years of age! His mission is against using gutka, smoking, pan masala and tobacco.
In the year 1992, Bagicha Singh left his home in Haryana for doing good to the country. Since 23 years now, he has been travelling on foot continuously and till now he has covered 5,60,000 Kms. All this is his effort to save India from addictions and social ills. Currently, Bagicha is on his 22nd trip and is carrying a 90kg luggage on his back along with 2 Indian flags that wave atop eighteen foot long poles. He is no less than a Samaj Sevak who wishes to make youth in the country aware about the ill effects of succumbing to tobacco, drugs, alcohol abuse and unsafe sex.
He also describes his experience in Guwahati forests wherein he had to face elephants and Naga tribes. He had carried 6 kgs of bananas to please the elephants who in turn rescued him from Naga tribes when they surrounded him. Watch this video to know more about his journey so far.
