The 57 years old tall and lean actor has been acting for the more than 30 years now and has received more than 150 credits so far.

In an interview to Buzzfeed in which his face was clearly visible, he said,

“I’m hired because I’m a tall, skinny guy – with other talents, I hope. But the creature effects guys love to start with a skinny, long palette, because they can build on it and not make it too bulky.”

In the early phase of his career, Doug was seen in “Batman Returns” as one of the goons of Danny DeVito’s Penguin. In addition, he also worked in “Hocus Pocus” as the zombie Billy Butcherman. This is what he went through when he played the character of a continuously grinning villain in “Buffy” episode “Hush”,

“You know that thing when you’re at a wedding and you’re smiling for pictures over and over again, and you’re [saying], ‘I can’t feel my face anymore’? Well, we had that for like eight days in a row.”

Director Guillermo del Toro has given him the most number of breaks by casting him in six of his movies.

This is what the director says about Doug,

“To me, it was another sign of what kind of actor Doug is. A guy who commits – and when he commits, he’s of a piece with the part.”

Next time you watch a character who is tall, lean and his face is covered with mask or make-up, do check the credits as there will be good chances of Doug playing that character.
