The Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 mega auction in New Delhi delivered drama right from the first hammer blow. A total of 67 players found teams but the biggest surprise came instantly – Australia captain Alyssa Healy, the first player up for bidding, went unsold. After that unexpected moment, the auction picked up pace as teams battled fiercely for top stars.

Indian all-rounder Deepti Sharma, released by UP Warriorz before the auction, returned to the franchise through an RTM (Right To Match) card worth ₹3.20 crore, becoming one of the biggest earners of the evening. Mumbai Indians secured New Zealand all-rounder Amelia Kerr for ₹3 crore, while UP Warriorz brought in former Australia captain Meg Lanning for ₹1.90 crore.
Delhi Capitals added South Africa skipper Laura Wolvaardt for ₹1.10 crore and Gujarat Giants won the bidding war for New Zealand veteran Sophie Devine at ₹2 crore. The aggressive spending across teams showed how franchises are reshaping their cores for the upcoming season.
