“You Are No Longer The BCCI President,” Gavaskar’s Unexpected Words To Sourav Ganguly On Live TV

The former Indian cricketers Sunil Gavaskar and Sourav Ganguly can easily be called two great cricketers of all times and there are quite a few similarities between them; for example, they both share the same initials, they both have played more than 100 test matches and while Little Master has scored more than 10K runs in test matches, the Prince of Kolkata has scored over 10K runs in ODIs. What makes things more interesting is the fact that both scored a double ton in their 99th test match, Gavaskar (236 runs) did it in 1983 against West Indies and Ganguly (239 runs) did it in 2007 against Pakistan.

However, there is still one more big similarity between them and it is their love for the game of football. How passionate Sourav Ganguly is for football can be understood by the fact the he was a co-founder of football club, Atletico De Kolkata which came into existence in 2014 and then he also played an important role in its merger with Mohun Bagan. On the other hand, Sunil Gavaskar likes to be called as a follower rather than a fan of Arsenal and recently while speaking on the show before the start of India-Bangladesh’s second test match, Little Master reveals that he teases his son who is a Manchester United fan by saying that he is an Arsenal fan. Sunil Gavaskar further says that whenever he teases his son, he asks Little Master to name four Arsenal players and the names that Sunil Gavaskar takes are- Thierry Henry and Dennis Bergkamp. Sunil Gavaskar also talks about Arsene Wenger who resembles Gavaskar’s hero ML Jaisimha a lot.

Sunil Gavaskar said that he enjoyed watching Thierry Henry a lot and the latter also signed a shirt for the former Indian cricketer. While speaking on the show, Gavaskar also revealed that the shirt signed by Henry is with Sourav Ganguly at the moment.

Then Sunil Gavaskar turned towards Sourav Ganguly who was also in the studio at that time and asked him where his shirt is. He tells Ganguly that he is coming to Kolkata for the game on 12th and this time, he doesn’t want to listen to any excuses. Gavaskar further tells Ganguly that he is no more BCCI President so he must be having enough time to search that shirt so this time he should find it and give it to him.

Let’s see whether Sunil Gavaskar gets his shirt back from Sourav Ganguly or not.
