Huacachina is situated in one of hottest sites but it is decorated by its hotels, shops, trees and it also has an oasis library.

This is the aerial look of Huacachina in Ica, Peru which is 330 km to the south of Lima. The town has 96 residents who live around the pond.

It is said that the pond has remedial powers, and during 1940s, many rich Peruvians come to bath in the pond.

The pond is created naturally; however there is also a story which says that a hunter saw a young princess bathing, as she ran away a pond was formed. The sand dunes which surround the pond are said to be created by the princess’s cloak.

The residents earn their living by taking care of the guests who come from far away to have a glimpse of the sunset colouring the area golden, before they sail down the slopes on the sandboards which are rented.

Huacachina is 4 kms far from the Southern city of Ica, on your arrival at the ‘Oasis of America,’ which is one of the last oases in Northern and Southern America, you will view the country-side hotels, attractive shops and a library.

The 50 Nuevo Sol note, the official currency of Peru also features Huacachina on its back. As it is a desert, the temperature is hot, dry and sunny and obvious it rains very less. The best time to visit is between May and August, the winter time.

The visitors get sandboards and buggies on rent from the resident of this miraculous town and they can also enjoy the charming scenery and remarkable sand dunes.

The National Institute of Culture has declared Huacachina a national cultural heritage and everyone hope that this serene oasis never disappear from the desert.
