You’ll Be Shocked To Know What Muslim Countries Think About ISIS

A latest research conducted in the Muslim-majority countries shows that the terror organization ISIS has very less support base in these countries. The research was conducted by Statista for The Independent, and it says that only 4% support ISIS in Indonesia and the same goes for Saudi Arabia; however, it is supported more in Syria where four million have been forced to leave the country after ISIS took it under control, while Nigeria, Tunisia and Malaysia have a widespread support base but the figure goes to 0% in Iran and Lebanon.

On Thursday, the terror group has attacked the largest Muslim country, Indonesia for the first time killing seven people including 5 terrorists, an Indonesian policeman and a Dutch UN employee leaving 20 injured. Three people have been arrested in connection with the attack. More than 87% population of Indonesia is Muslim and mostly is Sunni.

For Chris Doyle, director of the Council for Arab-British Understanding (Caabu), the results are not surprising as he said, “I think it emphasises that Isis are seen as a threat to communities across the Arab world – Muslims have been their primary victims after all, as was the case with al-Qaeda. The brutal nature of their rule, the way they have treated women, all the beheadings, have not endeared them to people.(Respondents) also know that by their actions, Isis are trying to turn the non-Muslim world against them.”
