“Is this the perfect date according to you?” Vrinda (22) laughed as she pulled Amish’s (24) cheeks.

“No baby! Just sit back and relax as I will show you what love is all about.” Amish said as he took a glimpse of his watch.

There arrived an elderly couple where the man (74) was pushing a wheelchair presided by his wife (70). The old man picked up a rose from the vendor sitting nearby just for Rs 5 and slowly tucked the rose very gently on his lady’s bun as he laid a gentle kiss on her cheeks. As the old couple was lost in each other, there came a chaat vendor to interrupt them. The old man greeted him with a smile and asked the vendor to make a small plate of chat for Rs 10. The couple was so much engrossed into each other that the surrounding or the judgemental eyes never bothered them.

This romantic sight of this elderly couple made the young couple cry!

Amish said “Vrinda, it’s the satisfaction and completeness that matters. They are so much satisfied with what they have right now. Just take a look into their eyes. It’s not a black and white or an old school romance they are adhering to. They are just abiding to an old saying of togetherness in love. They come here every Thursday not to go anywhere but to relive the moment they created 48 years ago. This bus stop is the particular place where they met for the first time.” Vrinda’s teary red eyes said it all as she held Amish’s hand tight and started impersonating herself with Amish. She was traveling in time, hoping someday even she and her beau would love each other to eternity.

Amish offered his shoulder to Vrinda as she rested her head on it.

The story was their perception.

They didn’t know that this elderly couple could never marry each other. They are the old souls discarded from their homes as they have no place in the gen-x society. They are the lovers who couldn’t marry each other because in that era, caste was the only thing that mattered. Leaving the matter of caste at bay, they were not allowed to choose their better halves in totality as love was a sin then. Every Thursday, the old couple find some time out of their old age home and for them, ‘Bus stop’ is the best place to spend quality time with each other because of all the memories attached to it. The old couple come here to visualize what life could have been, if they eloped back then. They made love through their eyes because maybe their jaws weren’t too healthy anymore. The elderly couple turn to their right and see how Amish and Vrinda are enjoying this love story patiently!
