Tamil Nadu’s dear “Amma” had changed the face of politics in the state and now that she passed away, it is indeed a HUGE loss for everyone.
Monday would always be black day in the political era of Tamil Nadu. With Jayalalithaa’s demise, a lot of uncertainty has been brought about.
However, one thing that everyone is discussing about is her assets. Well, the Tamil Nadu CM had declared assets worth 113.73 crores in her affidavit. If categorized, her immovable properties are worth Rs 72.09 crores and movable assets are worth Rs 41.63 crores. Let us have a look into the details;
Cash!
Jayalalithaa had declared that the total bank balance was Rs 10.63 crore and liabilities amounted to 2.04 crores. In the profession/occupation column, she had mentioned agriculture.
Property!
“Veda Nilayam”, her residence was spread over 24,000 square feet and the value is Rs 43.96 crores. She had purchased this with her mom in the year 1967 at the price of Rs 1.32 lakhs. She also owned a farm land (14.50 acres) in Telangana’s Ranga Reddy district and also one in Kancheepuram’s Cheyyur village (3.43 acres).
She owned 4 commercial buildings, out of which 1 was in Hyderabad and other was in Chennai.
Jewelry!
With regards to the jewelry, Jayalalithaa stated that she couldn’t ascertain the value of 21,280.300 grams, as it lied with Karnataka government treasury owing to the disproportionate assets case on her, the decision of which was pending in the Supreme Court. Possession of 1,250 kg of silver was declared too and its value was around Rs 3,12,50,000.
Vehicles
She was a car lover and had 2 Toyota Prado SUVs, the total value of which was Rs 40 lakhs. Apart from that, she had a Contessa, a Swaraj Mazada Maxi, a Mahindra Bolero, an Ambassador car, a Mahindra Jeep and a Tempo Trax.
Investment
Her shares and deposits were also seized by the police due to that case. However, she had invested in 5 firms i.e. Green T Estate, Royal Valley Floritech Exports, Kodanad Estate, Sasi Enterprises and Shri Jaya Publications as a “Partner” and the amount was around 27.44 crores.
There were no investments whatsoever in insurance policies, postal savings, NSS and nor had she given any advances or loans to any person, as per the affidavit.
As of now, Supreme Court’s judgment on the “Disproportionate assets” case is pending and if the decision is given in favor of the prosecution, all properties would be confiscated by the government.
