1. Human Space

Ever wondered what our body is made up of. Well, we are essentially made up of nothing but just atoms. To put in perspective, we are made up of 7,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,00,000 atoms. And all these atoms are almost more than billion years old.

2. Brain Power

Our brain only runs at the same power as a dim light bulb at 20 watts, but it has great potential than that. Infact, our brain has the storage potential of around 2.5 million GB of data, which means it can store 300 years worth of videos. Our brain not even has the capacity to store that much data but also it is extremely fast.

3. Sensitive Humans

We all know that humans have 5 senses – sight, sound, touch, smell and taste. Actually we have more than 5 senses. When we hold our hand above a fire, or open a freezer. We are actually using heat sensors in our skin to detect the temperature. Another sense is proprioception, which is classed as meta-sense. This is the sense of our body knowing the location of other parts without having to see them. Otherwise, we wouldn’t be able to do a head, shoulders, knees and toes movements with our eyes closed. Other senses are balance, vibration, starvation and thirst.

4. Heart Throbs

We’ve all seen a horror film where someone’s heart is pulled from their chest and it’s still beating. Well, this can actually happen; your heart can carry on beating when separate from the body because it has its own electrical impulse. An average living human’s heart pumps one million barrels of blood. And just an FYI, the heart in the human body is not on the left, its in the middle.

5. Causing A Stink

It’s not your sweat that smells. Actually humans produce two types of sweat, one from your eccrine glands all around your body and the other from your apocrine glands under your arms and between your legs. The bad smell when you sweat is the smell of bacteria feeding off the sweat from your apocrine glands.

6. We Are Shaved Monkeys

We actually have the same amount of hair on our bodies as a chimpanzee. It’s just that ours are fine and largely useless. However, this explains what goosebumps are doing. When we are cold they are trying to warm us up by lifting the hair. When we are frightened goosebumps are trying to puff out our non-existent fur to make us look bigger and more threatening. Being an extra hairy person might sound gros these days but study shows that hairier people are more clever than normal hair people.

7. Internal Medicine

The Liver in our body is the only organ that can regenerate. If you have only 25% of your liver left, then it can start to repair itself and grow back to its full size.

8. Seeing Clearly

Your eyes can actually see UV light, it’s just that the lens on our eyes filters it out. People who have undergone eye surgery to have the lens removed can see ultraviolet lights. The human eye can distinguish around 10 million colours and when unobstructed it can see a single candle 48 km away. If our eyes would be a camera, it would be rated as 576 megapixels.

9. Hidden Strenghts

A full head of hair can support an outstanding amount of weight i.e. around 12 tonnes. This means you can hold a double decker bus with your hair, but maybe not with your neck. You should also know that our bone is five times stronger than steel.

10. Taller By Night

Every morning when you get out of bed, you are half an inch or 1.27cm taller than you will be in the evening. This is due to the excess fluid that build up between your spinal discs. When you stand up all day the fluid is squeezed as stress is placed on your spine. When you sleep this fluid can expand again, making you a taller person by morning and a shorter one by night.
