10 Greatest Indian Superheroes Of All Time

We are deeply motivated and moved by superheroes, they have been our source of inspiration. While superheroes like Batman, Superman are widely popular and recognized. But there are some other superheroes that played a key role in shaping the childhood of many Indian kids. Indian Superheroes whom many people loved more than those of the DC and Marvel ones. So since I am a huge superheroes fan, I made a list of the top 10 greatest Indian Superheroes of all time. I’d like to think it was well thought out and the order makes sense, well, it does to me at least. I can’t wait to hear what kind of controversy this starts so without further ado, the 10 greatest Indian superheroes of all time!

1. Shaktimaan

Shaktimaan-Vichaar

Undoubtedly the greatest Indian superhero of all time. No one can forget those sunday mornings when we used to watch this show on the Doordarshan channel. Shaktimaan promotes the goodwill, he instills the morals in the kids. This was a show that emphasized on the power of the self, the importance of mediation, and realizing one’s true potential. Shaktimaan is a defender of truth and justice. Shaktimaan is a perfect role model for the kids, he promotes hygiene, patriotism, and the importance of education.

2. Super Commando Dhruva

Super Commando Dhruva, one of the greatest fictional character that Raj Comics has ever produced along with Nagraj and Doga. He is my favorite character, while most of the heroes have inherent superpowers, but SCD is different. He is a superhero out of a normal adult human, it’s his will and determination that makes him different, one of a kind. He is a role model for kids, he has morals, a responsible citizen and the best thing is that SCD comics don’t have extreme violence.

3. Nagraj

Nagraj is one of the most iconic Indian comic book character of all time. It’s been more than 28 years since the character was first introduced. Originally devised as a means to counter the international terrorism. Nagraj has vowed to eliminate the crime and terrorism across the world. His superpowers like shape-shifting, super healing, superhuman strength, snake bit, venomous breath makes him one-of-a-kind superhero.

4. Doga

While many superheroes firmly believe in solving the problem, Doga believes in uprooting the problem. A vigilante who doesn’t have faith in the laws and rules, he believes the whole system is corrupted.  Forced by his circumstances, the young Suraj became Doga. Doga has vowed to get rid of the evil against the humanity. Director Anurag Kashyap has already announced about his plan of making a movie on Doga’s character.

5. Mr. India

Mr. India is a sweet mix of patriotism, comedy, romance, science fiction, and adventure. Ever since its release, this movie has gained a cult status. A young man, Arun, who is good at heart, takes care of a large group of orphans. Arun discovers a gadget that can turn him invisible. The insane general Mogambo who wants to rule India. But there’s just one thing that stands between him and his goal of conquering India, and that’s Mr. India.

6. Krrish

A mentally challenged boy who has an encounter with an extraterrestrial, the boy grows up to be superhero. Rohit Mehra is given special abilities by an alien. He must now use it to protect the world from various threats. Apart from the film franchise, Krrish has been subjected to numerous games, comic books, tv series and merchandise.

7. Bhokal

Bhokal, a legend, an ancient warrior who descended to earth on a private mission. Bhokal can summon the ‘Bhokal-Shakti’, which gives him super-human physical attributes. He also has a mystical sword and the shield of his master. His sword can cut through almost every known metal. Bhokal is the guardian of Vikasnagar, it’s up to him to defend the interests of the vikasnagar. Bhokal is a man who upholds old traditions and allows the creation of new ones.

8. Parmanu

With the special suit gifted by his uncle, Vinay becomes parmanu and fights crimes. Parmanu’s costume gives him special powers like flying up to a speed of 1000 km/hr, he can ever fire atomic bolts from his chest, how cool is that! He has a belt that contains gadgets that help him reduce his size to any desired level. Parmanu’s alter ego is Inspector Vinay. So he can still fight crimes even when he’s not wearing his suit.

9. G.One

G.One was initially created as a game, but when its villain Ra.One escapes from the games’s virtual world, it’s up to G.One to fight him and protect the little Lucifer. While the movie Ra.One was accused of plagiarism, this movie took the superhero culture to a whole new level in India. They could make an animated series based on this character.

 10. Shakti

Chanda was an ordinary housewife, until one day when she discovered that her husband had been killing her daughters. The injustice and the evil that she witnessed, her rage opened up a volcano in her. The Goddess Kali uses Chanda’s body to transform into Shakti, she is the host for the spirit of Shakti.
