Delhi police arrested two men on the charges of posting obscene photos and adult jokes on online messaging platform WhatsApp on the basis of a complaint lodged by a Lady Lawyer at the Saket police station.
Delhi court sent Manoj and Kuldeep, the two accused, to judicial custody as they have been booked for offending the respect of a woman; however, after producing bail bonds, both were released on bail.
A senior police official told that Manoj had not been arrested for posting obscene images or videos; he had been taken into custody for adding Kuldeep and then not removing him from the group despite the complaints made by the lady.
The lady lawyer told that one of her relatives added her to a WhatsApp group few months back. Some common friends and some other friends were added to the group by the accused. One morning, she saw more than 10 messages in that group and some obscene photos as well as vulgar jokes were posted by one of the members.
A senior police official stated, “Her complaint states that on receiving the messages, she first ignored the messages. But when the same person kept sending adult jokes that were in bad taste and offensive pictures, it became a nuisance and she reported the matter to the police.”
She also said that Kuldeep seemed a jerk and he used “vulgar language” while talking in the group, and this compelled her to make a police complaint. After she lodged a complaint, Saket police registered the case and took action.
Police stated, “As evidence, we accessed her chat details and snapshots of the messages the man had sent. Since the chat had the phone number, we sent a team to his address and made the arrest. He was arrested on Tuesday.”
