CSA issued an official release in which it said that Thami Tsolekile, the former wicketkeeper has been handed over a 12 year ban for match fixing. Yes, he was reported to fix matches in in Ram Slam T20 in the year 2015. However, he was also accused of delaying the investigation on this and destroying relevant evidences of match fixing.

Matshikwe, the part of Lions and Mbhalathi, the part of Titans have been slapped with a 10 year ban. They have been accused of taking payments for fixing matches during Ram Slam T20 matches. Secondly, they didn’t provide relevant information to CSA when asked.

Then comes Symes, an all-rounder from Lions, who has been handed over a 7 year ban since he didn’t disclose the amount that he had taken for procuring a breach of code.

These bans have been accepted by all of them and are in effect from the 1st of August.

Chief executive of CSA, Haroon Lorgat stated

“Whilst there has been no evidence to suggest that an actual fix in any match was carried out, these players all participated in material discussions about match fixing. In fact, they all went further and accepted, or agreed to accept in the future, sums of money which they knew or ought to have known was given to them to partake in activity that would amount to a breach of the Code, or bring the game into disrepute,”

He further added

“Our attitude towards any form of corruption is clear and hence why we have imposed such firm sanctions. To their credit, all of these players eventually admitted their misconduct and co-operated with the investigators. They have also shown remorse for their actions. Importantly, each of them has indicated a willingness to engage in anti-corruption education to assist us to prevent this kind of conduct in the future,”
