Kolkata Knight Riders is going pretty well in the IPL 2024 as it is sitting at the second place in the points table with 7 wins in 10 matches and there are pretty good chances that it will enter the play-offs.
The seventh win of KKR was quite emotional as it registered a victory over Mumbai Indians on 3 May 2024 and it was the first victory of KKR at Wankhede Stadium in the last 12 years.
Though the Player of the Match was Venkatesh Iyer who played an important knock of 70 runs for his team, the Australian pacer Mitchell Starc also played an important role as he took 4 wickets and wrapped up MI and made his team win the match by 24 runs.
Mitchell Starc was also under pressure as being the most expensive player with a price of Rs. 24.75 crore he was not able to justify his value because of his poor form but in the match against MI, he made a grand comeback and silenced all those who were raising questions on him.
KKR gave a target of 170 runs to MI after batting first but the five times champion fell short by 24 runs, Mitchell Starc first dismissed Ishan Kishan in the second over of the MI innings and then he dismissed three batters in the 19th over of the MI innings – Tim David (24 runs), Piyush Chawla (0) and Gerald Coetzee (8 runs).

During the post-match presentation, the KKR skipper Shreyas Iyer revealed the chat or pep talk that he had with Mitchell Starc before the match, Iyer stated that he had a conversation with Starcy and told him the importance of this game for KKR. Iyer told Starc that if KKR lost this match, they would have to win two out of remaining four, he called this victory a beautiful one and hoped to cherish it for a long time.
