A robber was forced to run for his life when he tried to rob a store in US, owned by an Indian-American Sikh as the Sikh bravely fought back to save his money. However, the Sikh store owner got into risk when the robber shot a bullet at him which fortunately missed the target.
Amrik Singh who is 58 years is the owner of Route 9 Mini Mart in Staatsburg for 17 years now and he has been robbed earlier once but this time he fought back.
Amrik told abc7ny.com today, “I tell you honestly, I’m not scared.”
The clip from the surveillance video of Monday night shows that a gunman who was wearing a mask attempted to rob Amrik’s gas station convenience store situated in Salt Point in Dutchess County. The robber gave Amrik a bag and asked him to fill the bag with cash, the brawl started when the robber thought that there are larger notes but Amrik is not putting them in the bag.
Amrik told, “He said ‘Put the hundred dollar bill, the hundred dollar bill, and I said I don’t have a hundred dollar bill.”
Amrik threw a slipper on the robber which hit him near his face, then Amrik got into scuffle with the robber and pushed him out of the store and chased him, this can be seen in a video from outside camera. The robber shot a bullet but luckily it missed Amrik.
Amrik told, “I fell down, he didn’t get me, but he did shoot it outside in the parking lot.”
Amrik got his nose injured and also had pain in his chest but fortunately he wasn’t injured much, however a hole has been in the ground left after the blast. Amrik was not able to take a good look of the robber despite pulling his mask; the New York State Police hopes to get clues from the video.
