No doubt, it takes a lot of courage and guts to reveal something about yourself which you think might create a storm or will be unacceptable on the part of society initially. But Gaurav Arora, ex-Splitsvilla contestant did have that nerve, as he eventually dared to disclose about s*x change operation that he underwent to finally transform himself into Gauri Arora.
Contrary to expectations, she received appreciation and reverence for the audacity to speak truth and indeed, she deserved it all, in the real sense; didn’t she?
However, while interacting with HT, Gauri confessed of being raped at the tender age of 11. Here’s the painful account of past she shared:
“I was blamed then, that it occurred because I dressed like a girl. These were boys from my tuition class who were about six or seven years older than me. One day at the park, they got me to stay late and talked to me affectionately. Initially, I was revelling in the attention from the big boys. Maybe it was my innate attraction towards boys, which I am aware of now, but I was very innocent at the time. Before I knew it, they were caressing and kissing then manhandling me and molesting me and I was in pain. I knew this was wrong although I didn’t know exactly how.”
She further said that her mother was not willing to inform her father about the same; however, later he came to know and they reached police who confronted the wrongdoers.
It feels good to see that gradually our society is being broad-minded and has started accepting things which were impossible for it to imagine about a decade ago. What’s more, it’s creditable on the part of Gaurav too that he gave preference to his own desires and followed his dreams with absolutely no fear of what people would say!
