Thousands Of Dogs Poisoned To Death In Pakistan’s Karachi! You’ll Be Shocked To Know The Reason!

It is often said that a dog is man’s best friend. Dogs are amazing, they can cheer you up and can bring a smile on your face whether it’s when they are begging for your food, barking at their leash to tell you that it’s time to take a walk outside, or simply when they greet you after you return home from a long tiring day. Dogs are more faithful than humans, their little things can make your day.

What you are about to read is really disturbing!

More than a thousand stray dogs have been poisoned to death by municipal workers in Karachi. The dogs were poisoned after numerous complaints about the stray dogs biting women and children were filed in the Municipal Office. They had no other better action to take so they poisoned the dogs, this is what an official said on Wednesday.

A total of 1,050 dogs were slaughtered in the campaign. The estimates suggested that around 2,000 more would be targeted in the next phase.

The chairman of the municipal jurisdiction, Rehan Hashmi, said that the authorities had been flooded with complaints of stray dogs biting women, children and people badly. He said that the extermination programme was necessary because the city lacked proper resources to deal with stray dogs such as re-home the dogs or put them in pounds.

“Had there been some better resources or options, I would love to switch to that. They are living beings after all.”

Animal rights are largely neglected in Pakistan. But still a handful of activists and veterinary surgeons are fighting to save the stray dogs, trying to find a shelter and home for them. Yes, they are trying to save them from the ignorant population, that for religious reasons finds the animals unclean.

There is a very little demand for rescue dogs in Karachi. Only a few families outside the upper classes keep dogs as pets, while some keep pets to guard their houses. Karachi sees around 15,000 reports of dog bites a year.

This is seriously disturbing. Well what can you expect from a country like Pakistan which has no value for human lives, and is the one that gives shelter to terrorists; it must not be surprising that it’s killing poor animals now. Shame on you Pakistan. Guys, what do you feel about this move? there are a lot more options than simply killing the poor dogs. Feel free to drop your views and opinions in the comments.
