No doubt, social media is a very good platform for communicating with friends or sharing updates, but sometimes people tend to misuse it and eventually end up landing in a mess.
A guy from Mangaluru, Jabbar alias Kudroli, posted derogatory content about Goddesses on Facebook and received wrath from everyone, which further contributed to communal tension in the area. Moreover, police investigation is going on and when Facebook team refused to give out any information about the Mangaluru suspect, the company was booked under charges of non-cooperation.

Police officials raided the Mumbai Office on Thursday; however, the suspect has been arrested now. These searches were carried out at BKC office around 2pm after Mangaluru court issued an order against Facebook on charges of non-cooperation. Officials stated
“Despite repeated requests, including letters from senior police officials of the state given the nature of the case, Facebook consistently refrained from providing information. Thereafter, we registered a case against Facebook under Section 176 of IPC (omission to give information to public servant by person legally bound to give it) and obtained a warrant from the court to search the social media company’s office.”
According to reports, the information about Jabbar would be provided to Mangaluru police within 48 hours, as claimed by Facebook Representatives.
An investigating officer stated
“Jabbar had posted offensive content pertaining to some goddesses. With the content widely shared on social media and also through Whatsapp among many in Mangaluru, communal tension started to spread in the region. Police stepped in to track down the profiles and apprehended Jabbar.”
After receiving the order from the court, Mangaluru police team reached Mumbai office and managed to collect some information of Jabbar’s profile.
