Taarak Mehta, the popular columnist and Indian writer passed away this morning. He had been suffering from a long illness and finally, he breathed his last today at his Ahmedabad residence. Here’s the official confirmation of this news;

He was 87 & was very popular for his Gujarati column Duniya Ne Undha Chashma; based on this column SAB TV started a popular “Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah” which is successfully running since 8 years now and is one of the most loved serials in India.

Immediately after his death, the Mehta family took the decision of donating his body. A talented person like him will be deeply missed.
He had done many benevolent things and was a known name; Taarak Mehta was also awarded the Padma Shri in 2015. Till date, he had published over 80 books, out of which 3 were based on his columns.

When it comes to Gujarati theater and comedy, Taarak Mehta’s name is inseparable. May his soul rest in peace and may his family get the strength to bear this loss.
