Kirron Kher’s Statement On Rape Victim Didn’t Go Down Well. Got Slammed On Twitter

Rape cases have become very common these days; recent cases of a 22 year old woman who took an auto in Mohali to reach her PG accommodation, after attending her classes. She was raped by an auto driver and 2 men sitting in it; she was raped by 3 of them and was dumped in sector 53.

However, what was all the more saddening was a statement by Kirron Kher. On Wednesday she stated that the 22 year old should have been a bit careful, and that she shouldn’t have boarded the auto when she already saw 3 men sitting in it.

Her exact statement read,

She said it in a good sense, but guess her words didn’t go down well with Twitter. Here’s how she got slammed on the micro-blogging platform.

Is it right to blame the victim?

Can the same logic or lack of it be extended to elevators, flights, trains, buses, subways etc. Blaming the victims is always an easy way out right?
