Bruno, a 20-month-old Labrador was reported missing while its owner Santosh Shetty had taken it along to meet his mother-in-law at Kalina. The pet was playing out on the street till late night but went missing after that. Santosh went looking for the dog in that locality but returned disappointed.
When Santosh and his wife Pratibha enquired the neighbors about the disappearance of the dog, one of them told that he had noticed two men picking up the dog late at mid-night from that locality. Shetty lodged a complaint with the Vokola police.
When police investigated the two men, they came to learn that the dog was killed and eaten by these two men. The duo also revealed that they had planned to eat the dog raw but since it didn’t taste better, they cooked and ate.
The duo has no regrets for their inhumane act. The people in that locality expressed shock and grief over the incident. Santosh told the media that stray dogs and cats were decreasing in number in that locality. But nobody had expected that this would have happened.
Pratibha had a strong bond with her pet, she has gone seriously ill after this incident. The couple is yet to recover from the shock.
Salim Charania, animal activist, stated that the duo accused seems to be psychopaths and they deserve a strict punishment.
