The Indian cricket team is presently in England where they are playing the ongoing 5-match test series against England. As of now, three test matches have been played and the series is leveled at 1-1. It won’t be wrong to say that the Indian skipper Virat Kohli and senior cricketer Rohit Sharma are two important pillars of the Indian cricket team and they both are certainly an inspiration for many aspiring cricketers too.
While team India has performed well under Virat Kohli’s leadership and Rohit Sharma has played an important role in many wins of the Indian squad, there have been some reports in the past in which it has been stated that Virat and Rohit are not on good terms. Some reports also talked about the team being divided in two groups but both the players always shunned such rumours. Recently the head coach of the Indian cricket team, Ravi Shastri opened up on this matter and he was pretty clear when he said that he never saw any such thing.
According to Ravi Shastri, he has never seen any rift between the duo as the coordination has always been pretty good. He adds that whenever someone asks him about the rift between the two senior players, he tells them he hasn’t seen what they have seen. The former Indian cricketer also states that even if there is a rift, he has not felt it affecting the team from the first day, adding that if it had affected the team, he would have talked about it with Virat and Rohit straight away. He also says that he doesn’t shy away from speaking whatever is necessary.
In the past, Virat Kohli has denied all such rumours and said that he has also heard a lot about all this and it’s ridiculous to read such news. He adds that the environment of the dressing room plays an important role in the performance of the team and if any such thing has been there, the Indian team wouldn’t have performed so well. In fact, Kohli invites the mediapersons to the dressing room to see it themselves as they can’t show the videos.
Virat Kohli has also praised Rohit Sharma on few occasions as he feels that the latter is a really good cricketer. Virat also says that he and his teammates are trying to take the Indian cricket on the top but there are some who are enjoying by trying to bring them down.
