On Sunday, Pakistan suffered one of their most humiliating defeats when they were beaten by Bangladesh by 10 wickets in a home Test match in Rawalpindi. This loss not only represents a major setback for the team but also casts a shadow over Shan Masood, the batter who took over as Pakistan’s Test captain last year. Since his appointment, Masood has been unable to secure a single victory, now enduring four straight losses. This latest defeat is particularly painful, as it marks Pakistan’s first-ever Test loss to Bangladesh.
The poor performance has left the Pakistan cricket community deeply disappointed. Critics have highlighted the team’s inability to adapt to the conditions and their overall lack of effort. Bangladesh outclassed Pakistan in every aspect of the game, revealing serious weaknesses in the home side’s strategy and execution.
Ahmed Shehzad, a well-known critic of Pakistan cricket, did not mince words in his evaluation, sharply criticizing the Pakistan Cricket Board for what he views as severe mismanagement. He described this defeat as the darkest moment in the nation’s cricketing history, asserting that Pakistan has hit rock bottom.
Ahmed Shehzad posted a video in which he said that Pakistan cricket has hit a new low and he made it clear that in his opinion, the complete responsibility for this disastrous event goes to PCB and not the players.
He stated that the dirty joke has been played again as he captioned the video with, “The historic downfall of the Pakistan team has begun. The nation has been lied to again and again and today, after the historic humiliating defeat by Bangladesh, the dirty joke has been played again. Whom should the nation ask for an answer from and whose throat should they grab? Who is responsible for all these situations?”
In the video, Ahmed Shehzad said, “I haven’t seen Pakistan go this low in my life. Batting, bowling and fielding is a discussion for another day. But this is a new low in Pakistan cricket. It will be very tough for them to recover from this defeat. They haven’t recovered from the defeat against Afghanistan until today.”
He further said, “I told earlier that if you take short term decisions, it will hamper your cricket. Pakistan cricket is already towards darkness, but we did not expect to lose against Bangladesh. Players are not at fault. PCB is at fault because players never asked to be picked forcefully. It’s you who are making them play constantly. It’s you who are not letting domestic cricketers come along. You admit that there are not enough players in domestic cricket. If this is the case, what have you made?”
