Veteran actor Paresh Rawal recently opened up about a surprising method that aided his recovery from a serious knee injury sustained during the filming of Rajkumar Santoshi’s Ghatak. While shooting a scene with Rakesh Pandey, he injured his leg badly, prompting immediate help from Tinnu Anand and Danny Denzongpa, who rushed him to Mumbai’s Nanavati Hospital. Recalling that moment, Paresh Rawal shared he was deeply worried, fearing it might mark the end of his acting career.
During his time in the hospital, he received an unexpected visitor — the late action director Veeru Devgan. Paresh Rawal recounted that Veeru Devgan, upon learning about the injury, suggested a remedy that initially shocked him. He was advised to drink his own urine first thing every morning, a practice reportedly common among fighters to promote faster healing. Along with this advice, he was told to avoid alcohol, mutton and tobacco and stick to simple food.
Paresh Rawal decided that if he was going to follow this unusual recommendation, he would do it wholeheartedly. He shared that instead of quickly gulping it down, he would sip it slowly, treating the practice seriously. He continued this routine for 15 days and when his X-ray reports were reviewed, the doctor was surprised to find a clear sign of healing. According to Paresh Rawal, an injury that would normally require two to two-and-a-half months to heal showed significant recovery in just one and a half months.
Well, that was indeed miraculous!
On the work front, Paresh Rawal is all set to appear in Priyadarshan’s upcoming horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla alongside Akshay Kumar and Tabu. The actor is also part of the highly anticipated Hera Pheri 3 in which he will reunite with Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty.
