A playful and bizarre trend has taken Instagram by storm where relatively unknown users have begun posting videos pretending to be related to Bollywood celebrities. This trend, tagged as “holyfknairball” or “holyfcknairball,” has gone viral, with users humorously asserting family ties to stars like Anushka Sharma, Malaika Arora and Madhuri Dixit. Though the claims are clearly not credible, the videos have generated massive engagement and amusement across the platform.
One video, in particular, drew widespread attention when a young woman claimed to be sister of Anushka Sharma. The comments section was soon flooded with remarks, many focused on Virat Kohli, Anushka Sharma’s husband. One user cheekily asked for Kohli’s phone number, while another joked about getting autographs from both Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni.
As the post attracted more eyes, people began pointing out inconsistencies, such as the absence of follows between the supposed ‘family’ members. Someone sarcastically commented that maybe Anushka was not even aware of her cousin’s existence. Another quipped that the reel was just a bid for views, with a user warning not to “fake more than you can handle”.

Eventually, the Instagrammer clarified that her claim was a joke, acknowledging a comment that said the humour had flown over many heads in the comment section. Despite the joke being later revealed, the video’s virality inspired others to join in, creating their own reels claiming fake celebrity relatives.
Soon, the trend expanded beyond Anushka Sharma, with several users pretending to be cousins or distant relatives of stars like Malaika Arora and Madhuri Dixit. The comment sections continued to thrive with jokes, as viewers joined the fun by humorously linking themselves to celebrities like Shah Rukh Khan and Ranveer Singh.
While none of these claims are meant to be taken seriously, the trend has become a humorous escape and a creative way to engage with Bollywood fandom on social media.
