What should have been a routine moment outside the team hotel turned into a disturbing scene during India’s third ODI against New Zealand in Indore. Indian batting star Rohit Sharma found himself at the centre of an unexpected security scare when a woman managed to bypass security and physically grabbed his arm as he was entering the hotel. The incident, caught on camera and widely shared online, left fans shocked and raised serious questions about player safety.

The video shows the woman rushing past security personnel and approaching Rohit Sharma, who appeared unaware of what was happening until he was suddenly pulled. Visibly startled, the cricketer reacted with surprise as security officials quickly intervened and removed the woman from the area. While the incident sparked outrage and concern on social media, the story took an emotional turn when the woman later came forward to explain her actions.
In a separate clip circulating online, the woman identified herself as Sarita Sharma and spoke about her young daughter Anika who is reportedly battling a life-threatening illness. She explained that her child needs a specialised injection that costs around Rs 9 crore and must be imported from the United States. According to her, the family has been trying relentlessly to raise funds through small donation camps and public appeals and has so far managed to collect Rs 4.1 crore. However, time is running out and the remaining amount feels increasingly out of reach.
She shared that during the India–New Zealand match, she attempted to reach out to well-known cricketers in the hope that they might help amplify her cause. She said that donation efforts during the match did not bring in enough support. Believing that public figures like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli have previously helped children in need, she made a desperate decision to go to the hotel where the Indian team was staying.

Overcome by emotion and fear for her child’s life, she admitted that she lost control and grabbed Rohit’s hand in an attempt to get his attention. She expressed regret for her actions and apologised to Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and the authorities, clarifying that she had no intention of taking selfies or causing harm. She said that her only motive was to save her daughter’s life.
