Things are not going as planned for Kolkata Knight Riders this season and it showed clearly during their clash against Punjab Kings at Eden Gardens on Monday evening. With early wickets falling and rain interrupting play, co-owner Shah Rukh Khan was seen looking visibly frustrated, a moment that quickly went viral.

A video in which King Khan is seen engrossed in conversation with franchise’s CEO Venky Mysore is currently going viral and it is quite obvious that Shah Rukh Khan is not happy with KKR’s current performance in the IPL.

KKR’s IPL 2026 campaign has had a difficult start. They lost their opening match to Mumbai Indians by 6 wickets, even after scoring more than 200 runs at Wankhede Stadium. The struggles continued as they suffered a heavy 65-run defeat against Sunrisers Hyderabad in their first home game.
Hoping to bounce back, KKR chose to bat first against Punjab Kings. However, things didn’t improve. The team once again lost early wickets, with Finn Allen and Cameron Green getting out cheaply. This immediately put pressure on the batting lineup. By the time rain stopped play in the 4th over, KKR had reached just 22–25 runs for the loss of 2 wickets, with captain Ajinkya Rahane and Angkrish Raghuvanshi trying to stabilise the innings.

The early damage was caused by Australian pacer Xavier Bartlett, who struck twice in quick succession. He used swing and seam movement effectively to dismiss both Finn Allen (6) and Cameron Green (4). Cameron Green’s poor form is becoming a concern, especially since he was bought for a massive ₹25.20 crore. His recent scores — 18 against Mumbai Indians and 2 against Sunrisers Hyderabad — highlight his ongoing struggle.
During the rain break, cameras repeatedly showed Shah Rukh Khan in discussion with KKR CEO Venky Mysore, reflecting the tense situation. The decision to bat first on a dry pitch seemed to have backfired once again.
Meanwhile, the rain only made things worse. Although the ground staff acted quickly to cover the field, the weather kept changing. There was a brief moment when the rain slowed and covers were being removed, raising hopes of a restart. But soon, heavy rain returned along with thunderstorms and lightning, leading to further delays.

The poor weather also affected attendance. Only 29,358 spectators were present, which is lower than usual for Eden Gardens. Factors like the Monday schedule and cloudy conditions likely kept many fans away. As delays continued, several spectators even started leaving the stadium, adding to a disappointing evening for KKR.
What was SRK saying to Venky Mysore? Any guesses?
