Earlier, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), the defending champions, struggled unexpectedly. Despite a strong start, they failed to complete their 20 overs and were bowled out for just 155. The innings had promise, especially when Virat Kohli came out attacking. He smashed Kagiso Rabada for 21 runs in a single over, including five consecutive fours, setting the tone early.

However, Gujarat Titans stayed calm and stuck to disciplined bowling. Captain Shubman Gill trusted Kagiso Rabada despite the early assault and that decision paid off. Kagiso Rabada struck back by dismissing King Kohli for a quick 28 off 13 balls, a turning point that triggered RCB’s collapse. From 71/2 in seven overs, RCB slipped dramatically to 96/6 in just 10.3 overs. Players like Rajat Patidar (19), Jitesh Sharma (1), Tim David (9) and Krunal Pandya (4) couldn’t stabilise the innings. Meanwhile, Arshad Khan impressed with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 22 runs and cleaning up the lower order.
