Following his reported exit, Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment allegedly sought nearly Rs 45 crore in compensation, stating that the production had suffered financial losses during the pre-production stage. The matter has once again triggered conversations in Bollywood about the balance between an actor’s professional commitments and personal creative decisions.
Amid the ongoing debate, Suniel Shetty shared his views while speaking to a leading publication during the promotions of Welcome To The Jungle. Extending his support to Ranveer Singh, the actor said that no person or organisation has the authority to ban an actor or any form of art. He added that such actions would not stand in court and remarked that the Supreme Court would dismiss such a matter immediately.
Suniel Shetty also praised both Farhan Akhtar and Ranveer Singh, calling them sensible individuals. He expressed confidence that the disagreement could be resolved if the two sat together for a discussion. Defending Ranveer further, Suniel pointed out that the actor has contributed around 3 and half thousand crore in revenue to the film industry and questioned why anyone would want to ban an artist who continues to attract audiences. He also asked what purpose such a ban would serve if people still wanted to watch the actor’s films.
The dispute intensified after the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) issued a non-cooperation directive against Ranveer Singh. The decision sparked widespread discussions on social media, with many users supporting the actor. Ranveer’s legal team challenged the directive, arguing that the federation did not have the legal authority to impose such restrictions. The issue was eventually settled through mediation by IMPPA, after which FWICE withdrew its order in early June. As of now, the makers of Don 3 have not announced a new cast and the film remains on hold.
