Faisal Malik, best known for his acclaimed performance in the web series Panchayat, is all set to appear as Kumbhakarna in Ranbir Kapoor’s much-awaited film Ramayana. The actor is seen in his grand new avatar in the film’s trailer, though he is almost unrecognisble as extensive prosthetics were used to transform him into the iconic mythological character.

While Faisal is now receiving appreciation for his performances, his path to success was filled with years of hardship and financial struggles.
The actor, who hails from Prayagraj, moved to Mumbai at the age of 22 with dreams of making it big in the entertainment industry. However, he soon discovered that building a career in acting was far more challenging than he had imagined.
Speaking in a 2022 interview, Faisal Malik shared that arriving in Mumbai made him realise how different life in the city was. He described Mumbai as a place that teaches people the realities of life and helps them understand what it truly takes to survive and succeed.

Faisal Malik admitted that pursuing acting without financial stability was extremely difficult. Realising the challenges ahead, he temporarily stepped away from acting and began searching for a job to support himself. He recalled that his first year in Mumbai was the toughest. Although his family initially sent him money, he felt uncomfortable depending on them and stopped asking for financial help after six months.
Recalling those difficult days, the actor revealed that he even spent nights sleeping at railway stations, paying just Rs 10 a night for a place to sleep. Looking back, he said those hardships became an essential part of his journey and helped shape the person he is today.

Years of perseverance eventually paid off and Faisal Malik established himself as one of the most respected performers of the industry. His breakthrough role in Panchayat earned him widespread praise and now with his portrayal of Kumbhakarna in Ramayana, the actor is set to showcase yet another memorable performance on the big screen.
What a journey!
