Bollywood’s top stars are in big trouble over a mouth-freshener ad and Shaktimaan fame Mukesh Khanna is not holding back.
Veteran actor Mukesh Khanna has come out in support of the Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) after it sent show-cause notices to Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff for their Vimal Elaichi advertisement. In a video he posted on Instagram, Mukesh Khanna strongly criticised the three actors for endorsing a product which he feels indirectly promotes pan masala.

In the video, the actor said he was happy that the government and the FDA have finally sent notices to the three big stars. He said he has been saying for a long time that many big actors who consider themselves as good people are actually showing the public the wrong path. He questioned why, despite having so much work, they still choose to do such advertisements. He pointed out that even if they are showing elaichi on screen, they are indirectly promoting the same brand which also sells pan masala.
He also questioned the authorities for being late. He asked why products that are banned in Maharashtra are still being sold in the market. He expressed surprise that the government officials have taken action now and asked why it took so much time. He also questioned why these actors are paid in lakhs and crores for such ads.
Mukesh Khanna further demanded that the three actors should say sorry to the public. He said that they should come forward and publicly apologise for doing the wrong advertisement. According to him, since they have already given a wrong message to the people, it is now their responsibility to correct it and give the right message that such things should not be consumed.
Along with the video, he also wrote a strong caption in Hindi. In it, he said that saffron colour is not for doing ‘aadab’ (salute), it is a symbol of bravery, courage and valour. He added that he feels ashamed when someone does an ‘aadab’ and indirectly tells people to eat gutkha. And he feels even more ashamed when that person is a favourite star of the public.

SRK, Ajay Devgn and Tiger Shroff have received show-cause notices from the Maharashtra FDA for their Vimal Elaichi ad. The FDA has alleged that the ad is actually a surrogate advertisement for Vimal Pan Masala, a product that is banned in Maharashtra.
This action has come at a time when the state FDA is taking strict steps against gutka and pan masala products that contain tobacco or nicotine. The three actors have now been asked to explain their role in the advertisement and its alleged link with the banned pan masala brand.
