Bollywood’s rumour mill has been working overtime lately, and this time Race 4 is at the center of it all. Names like Aamir Khan, Sidharth Malhotra and Tiger Shroff have been popping up everywhere as supposed frontrunners for the film. But producer Ramesh Taurani has now put a stop to the guessing game, confirming that nothing about the cast has actually been decided yet.
The rumours claimed all three actors were in talks to lead the fourth part of the franchise, with director Vijay Krishna Acharya tipped to be behind the camera. Ramesh Taurani has now asked the media and social media pages to stop spreading unconfirmed reports and wait for the makers to share real news.
On Monday, he posted an official note on Instagram to address the situation. In it, he explained that the cast of Race 4 hasn’t been locked in yet and requested that media outlets and social media pages avoid spreading speculation or unverified claims about who’s been cast.
He also reassured fans that once the cast is actually finalised, the makers will share the news themselves. He asked people to hold off on reporting or sharing anything until an official confirmation comes directly from the team.
This clarification comes right after buzz that Aamir Khan, Sidharth Malhotra and Tiger Shroff were being eyed for the project, with Vijay Krishna Acharya’s name also floating around as a possible director. Vijay Krishna Acharya has worked with Aamir Khan before, on both Dhoom 3 and Thugs Of Hindostan. But as of now, neither the actors nor the director have been officially locked.
The franchise itself goes back to 2008, when the original Race released under the direction of Abbas-Mustan. That film starred Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu, Sameera Reddy and Anil Kapoor, and did well enough at the box office to lead to a sequel. Race 2 followed five years later in 2013, again directed by Abbas-Mustan, with Saif and Anil returning to their roles alongside new additions John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ameesha Patel. These first two films were tied together by their storyline and became known for their twisty plots, full of betrayals and shifting loyalties.
Things changed with Race 3 in 2018, which brought in a fresh story and a mostly new cast. Salman Khan stepped in as the lead this time, with Anil Kapoor still part of the ensemble. Unlike the earlier films, this one didn’t get the same warm response from audiences.
Since Race 3, talk of a fourth film has kept resurfacing on and off, including curiosity over whether Saif Ali Khan, the actor who kicked off the franchise, might return for it.
So while Aamir, Sidharth and Tiger’s names are the latest to join the speculation, Ramesh Taurani’s statement makes one thing clear: nothing is confirmed yet. Whoever ends up leading Race 4, the announcement will come straight from the makers once casting actually wraps up.
