Taapsee Pannu has spoken openly about some of the difficult experiences she faced during her Bollywood journey. The actress recently revealed that she was once removed from a film at the request of its male lead, while she was never given a clear explanation for the decision.
Speaking in an interview, Taapsee Pannu said she was simply told that the hero no longer wanted her in the film. She admitted that she tried to understand the possible reasons behind the decision, including insecurity or the actor wanting to work with someone he was closer to. However, she said no solid reason was ever given to her, despite repeatedly asking why she had been removed.
Taapsee Pannu also recalled another incident that she described as the worst reason she had ever received for being replaced. She said she was told that the hero’s wife did not like her. The actress said she had no idea why the woman disliked her. Taapsee didn’t reveal the names of either the actor or his wife.
The actress also recently spoke about another change in the way she chooses films. She said she has started rejecting certain projects because she does not want to be typecast. According to Taapsee Pannu, the industry often relies on a familiar group of actresses for specific kinds of roles. She pointed out that around five actresses may be considered for glamorous characters, while another set of five may be preferred for hard-hitting, issue-based films.
Taapsee Pannu said she has started telling filmmakers when she feels her casting could make a film too predictable. She explained that if audiences can easily guess how a story will end simply because of the actress chosen for the role, she would rather turn down the project. She even said that she has deliberately removed herself from consideration for some films for this reason.
