Doctors detected ligature marks on popular TV actress Pratyusha Banerjee’s neck that indicated that death was due to hanging and asphyxiation, as per a preliminary autopsy that was conducted today evening. Post-mortem was conducted by doctors for over 3 hours and the whole procedure was photographed and videographed, says Vikram Deshmane, the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Zone XI. This autopsy was performed at Siddharth hospital and the main cause of death is asphyxia.
The actress was found hanging from a ceiling fan in her Goregaon residence on Friday around 5pm. Rahul Raj Singh, her boyfriend was the first to spot her and take her to the hospital, where she was declared dead. An accidental death case has been registered by the Bangur Nagar Police and the statement of Rahul has been recorded.Even statements of her parents Soma Banerjee and Shankar Banerjee have been recorded and investigation is on. On her upper back, there was a tattoo bearing the name ‘Rahul’.
Last rites were carried out at Oshiwara Crematorium wherein all co-stars, actors, friends and family members were present.
