Aakash Chopra Slams Airtel For Its Ad Featuring A Little Girl Who Wants A Bodyguard In Phone!

Looks as if good days are over for Airtel. Since a few months, the telecom giant has been surrounded by controversies. First, Airtel’s fake claim of “Officially India’s fastest 4G network” was questioned and then, a complaint was filed by Jio against its misleading offers.

Latest one to slam Airtel is Aakash Chopra, the former Indian batsman. Yes, he has criticized Airtel for its ad which involves a little girl. This is the ad which made him furious;

In this, Airtel has described some features which should be there in smartphones. The ad shows a little girl expressing her desire to have a bodyguard in her smartphone, so that he could come to the rescue when someone eve-teases a girl.
Aakash didn’t like it because the ad features a child. Angry Aakash just had 1 question i.e. “What’s happened to advertising?”

He took to Twitter and thrashed Airtel; check out his tweets…

What does it tell about advertising/ India?

The tweet read, “A little girl asking for the smartphone to have a bodyguard to save girls from eve-teasers…what does it tell us about advertising/India?”

No, it isn’t cute!

It read, “No, @Airtel_Presence, it isn’t cute/sweet. Sorry. ?”

Many people agreed with Aakash Chopra; here’s how they supported him…

Lacks creativity and sense!

Non sense ad!

Revamp!

Shows dark times!

Airtel hai saab!

We agree with Aakash. Such ads portray the negativity of Indian society and create a bad influence on everyone’s minds, especially children. The girl who is saying the dialogue of “Eve teasing” in the ad must not be knowing its meaning too. Such ads should be avoided, don’t you think so?
