The AC-III tier of Humsafar service is getting a makeover and it’s the best news ever!!!

The new coaches will be installed with the most amazing facilities you could possibly imagine. This is for the Humsafar service that is soon to run between Delhi and Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. The new changes are aimed at not only upgrading the passenger’s experience in terms of their comfort but also ensure greater safety. This good news will hopefully reduce the much-seen danger and the attached paranoia within women passengers.

In a recent interview with The Indian Express, a senior rail ministry official told the newspaper that new AC-III tier compartment will be installed with a signature colour scheme, CCTV cameras in the compartment hallways, and a tea and coffee vending machine in each coach.

If for you that’s the greatest news, hold your breath for added features so amazing that you might want to travel between Delhi and Gorakhpur simply for the train ride. The official added that the facilities would also include:

– Above each door there will be a GPS-based passenger information system, a fire-and-smoke detector, and automatic room-freshener dispensers. Upgrading the categorization of the berths to the airplane coding system; it will be like a light bar with numbers indicating lower, middle and upper berths, which will replace the often faded stencil formatted numbering on the wall.

– No more will you see “Reena Loves Mukesh with a heart through an arrow on the toilet walls because Indian Railways is Gel coating the toilet walls to avoid such graffitis.

– The hallways and side berths will have curtains, Yes! You heard that right! Indian Railways will finally incorporate the basic sense of giving privacy to its passengers. The AC-III tier will be curtain proof which is only a luxury enjoyed by higher classes only.

You know the irritating small gap created by an extra middle berth between the side upper and side lower ? That’s been finally removed in the fifth train. The problem that troubled coach designers for decades has finally been solved.

The solution has been found by putting a separate berth at the sides between the wall and the lower seats. The edges of this side berth will act as a handrest until one pulls it up and lays it over the two seats to become an entire gapless birth.

“Earlier, the thinking was that extra or new features could be added only in higher classes. But this is re-imagining an existing class, without giving it a luxury tag,” the official told The Indian Express .

It is no surprise that the AC-III tier is the most popular class of train in India. The last time, under Lalu Prasad’s time as the railway minister, AC-III tier underwent an upgrade introducing a new class called AC-III Economy for Garib Rath. But this new class of train became unpopular because of the small gap created by an extra middle berth between the side upper and lower berths. That annoying design fault has been changed by the railways ever since.

In case you’ve been so lost by the good news bombarding your imagination. Let me tell you the route again. The new coaches will initially be installed on the all-AC-III tier Humsafar service, which is positively expected to run between Delhi and Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh. These services will be installed by the Rail Coach Factory in Rae Bareli, Uttar Pradesh which will be present in the new coaches of four trains, with the fifth train under construction that will be realised in upcoming time.

This great development will surely change the face of Indian Railways. Let’s see how effectively will this scheme be executed. We are excited to hear this great news, are you?
